Americans have apple pie, Egyptians eat molokhai.

Yes, we know about falafel and foul medames. But if you really want to challenge yourself with a country’s most typical and authentic food that you won’t find in too many other places, then eating molokhai in Egypt is the thing you do.

It’s simpler to describe it as a soup made from spinach-like leaves. You can add chicken or beef pieces and you might put a scoop of rice in it as well. The fun thing was to see first-time samplers in our group trying it out; many came back for seconds and some even kept asking for it later on the tour.

    Have been to funeral in Brisbane. D’s dad died last week. Lovely guy who had been in lots of pain. So at peace.
