Our emotional attachment to St Catherine’s.

March 30, 2012

Near Mount Sinai and associated with so many biblical references, St Catherine’s is one of the oldest Christian monasteries still in existence and it takes a 2.5 hour drive to get to it.

The day before we wake up to the sad news that a Melbourne friend has passed away. In spite of smart phones and wi-fi, these events are so much harder to deal with from a distance.

But our visit to St Catherine’s monastery today provides us with an appropriate symbolic gesture – we write brief commmemoration notes that we then place into one of the walls of this ancient monastery.

You will always be in our thoughts Trevor.
