Noosa Heads is touristy and sanitised, but remains irresistible.

August 5, 2012

Taormina in Sicily is full of tourists and tourist shops – everything about it shouts touristy. And yet the sheer beauty of its place and setting makes it irresistible. Here we are in Noosa Heads on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast and it’s exactly the same. In many respects Noosa is sanitized and even artificial. But those breathtaking sunsets on the beach, that panorama of sea and coastline and that climate in the middle of winter are irresistible. It’s the same  when you walk or jog in the Noosa National Park – boardwalks and well-heeled and well-dressed people talking into their smart phones; but that experience of walking or jogging for an hour or so is sheer heaven for the eyes. Hard to explain and even harder to find better.
