A clever Italy itinerary can deliver a range of travel adavantages for your trip.

May 12, 2015

This itineray for Italy is really working. It simply avoids wasting precious travel touring time.

It’s not rocket science – just make sure that you minimise hotel check ins/outs times and avoid a whole lot of transfer days (I call them “lost days”). Instead, create an itinerary hub location which you book  for four or five nights and from which you can access your daily highlights.  This gives you the flexibility of reaching your daily excursions by bus or train or boat. It also allows you to indulge in a free day to catch up on rest, laundry (or, for instance, catching the train back to Florence for that extra shopping you weren’t able to do the previous day).

Our Hub location for five days in Tuscany is Montecatini Terme. Only about an hour by train to Florence. Our access also to Cinque Terre, Lucca and Pisa. And don’t forget the bleeding obvious – Montecatini Alto, which you reach by Funicular and reveals views that Verdi has described as the best in the world; the fantastic home made pasta and a glass or two of wine also help.

A little personal note – Montecatini Terme is the place Alex and Gerry chose to celebrate their birthdays with a delightful local lunch.

Thank you clever Italy itinerary. You made us fit in so much more and so much better.

    • Thanks for the birthday greetings Grant. Some in the group are coming back with nice Tuscany leather jackets for that Melbourne weather. Cheers, Alex,

Hi Di, Tuscany! Your dream. Big tick off the bucket list. I hope it was just what you dreamed of and more. I hope you’re having a lovely time. It has been raining and freezing here, you might have to fly north every year 🙂
Everything is going well here. Amaya’s musical is on Sunday and she’s really nervous. Love Kelly xoxo
