That’s not a ferry; that’s a ferry.

August 21, 2016

imageWe thought the overnight ferry  from Stockholm to Helsinki was going to be one of those crowded, stinky, boozy and uncomfortable affairs where the next morning you don’t disembark, you get decanted onto the terminal.

Not so the Silja Line Serenade. It’s the second largest ferry in the whole world and it carries its 2,500 plus passengers with hotel quality efficiency, plus jacuzzis, a casino, duty free shops and an internal gallery. For entertainment, you watch trapeze artists dangling over this internal promenade. Now that’s a ferry.

    • Stan and Sonja. Glad you’re enjoying the blog. Yes, we’re heading north tomorrow and we can’t wait to talk to Father Christmas. Not sure about the northern lights; keep watching the blog. Cheers, Alex.

Wow that Ferry was some monster. Indeed we think of the punt/ferry smelling of diesel fumes and servings of cheap coffee and fried food. I would just love to hear more of the overnight journey. Some folk dressed up snugly, so I guess the weather a bit chilly?

    • Thank you for your comments Robyn. I’ve made sure that your friends Julia and Lynne are updated on your replies. Wait until I tell you in the next blog that they have been spending their time in Helsinki in jail! Cheers, Alex.
