Foodies will love Sicily.

April 3, 2017

It usually  works out that guidelines for travellers can be summarised in simple terms. Here’s another one: if you want to travel where the food is good, go to where they like their food. We’ve put that one to the test in Sicily and it works. Foodies will love Sicily!

The usual food basics apply here: great local product; fresh local product; good use of specialties like spada (swordfish), fennel and capers; well-trained chefs and support staff to bring it all to the table; interesting combinations (like last night’s sardines and fennel pasta); delectable sauces (like the one that complemented our fish the pevious night). Whether in restaurants, hotels or the popular agriturismo, it’s always good. Even the Enopaninoteca Gilberto e Vera’s “world-famous” panini in Lipari is served with so much care that he delights in telling you that he selects the wine to match the panini filling you’ve ordered.

The Sicilian wines also are good. But we’ll just concentrate on the food here.

They love their food in Sicily. Foodies will love Sicily.
